KIND WORDS FROM OUR SUPPORTERS
"Just a quick line to say how much we enjoyed the concert. Please pass on our thanks and praise for a superb concert, both highly entertaining and educational as there were various pieces new to us. The chorus not only sang a great assortment of pieces very well but were also pleasing to look at with smart costumes and varied 'choreography' (not in static front-facing rows). What a coup to include five lovely children, the future we hope. We very much enjoyed all the solo performances too; how delightful to hear male up-and-coming artists, full of youthful enthusiasm. And Jo on the piano never ceases to amaze - what a star she is! Justin Lavender's commentary was beautifully pitched, both informative and amusing, binding together a varied well-balanced programme in a most appropriate way. What a perfect way for us to spend a Sunday afternoon! THANK YOU!" Carol & Douglas
"Personally I would say that it is a much more realistic reflection of the profession compared with Co - Opera Co (done that) and other companies of that ilk. You can't have enough stage experience and this certainly provides huge value on that side." Alexander (Principal performer)
"What a terrific opening night! Everything was excellent. The chorus were most convincing and sang and acted with real confidence, the staging and choreography were inventive and held the audience's attention, the company's ensembles and individual singers distinguished themselves, the costumes made it all look authentic and real (quite apart from looking stunning!), the fine orchestra was also a huge bonus, and Justin's conducting as ever was immaculate. And as for the principals, they were all outstanding. But I must single out Juliet - her performance was simply astonishing! We had a great evening and other members of the audience we spoke to were thrilled. I'm sure you'll have a great run this week. Break a leg!" Geoff and Lynne
"Dear OAB, This is just to let you know how very much we all enjoyed the opera last night; I am full of admiration. Not knowing the opera, I was surprised how tuneful and melodic it was. Star turns were Louise Fuller as Juliet, and Oscar Castellino whom I remember being impressed by last year. Well done the chorus; you were great. I thought it was one of the best sets and costumes OAB had ever done. I liked the way part of the set matched the brick walls of the theatre to make it part of the set. Can't believe the costumes were home made - really clever and beautiful colour scheme. Best wishes, Catherine."
“I thoroughly enjoyed the show and the cast and principals were great! Combined with a wonderful orchestra – well done!” Mrs D
"I've been coming to Opera at Bearwood productions for the last 10 years and this was by far and away the best production - absolutely wonderful! Well done Opera at Bearwood!" Long time supporter
"Please pass on my congratulations to everyone in the cast, they all did wonderfully well, Vikki's acting was so good when she was helping to dress Juliet. She looked so beautiful and acted out her part to perfection. The three friends singing as they dressed Juliet was just so beautiful, I wanted to hear more of them. Juliet's, acting and her voice, all night long was so beautiful and the leading man Craig, fantastic, beautiful voice.
I cannot praise you all enough, it was all so marvellous, every bit of it. The orchestra was fantastic, Justin had his finger on the button all night long. Wonderful, marvellous, well worth all the hard work you all put into it. Also, I must say that the young man playing Paris tonight is a rising star, he is such a natural. Please pass on my congratulations to Justin and Ali, they work so well together and create such wonderful productions." Anne
"I attended the performance last night and thoroughly enjoyed it. There was a good pace to the action and the dramatic situations had lots of impact. Juliet sang superbly and really acted the part, being both joyous and melancholy as the situation required. The orchestra played well..... and the costumes and set were excellent, creating a very realistic environment for the story. Many thanks." Mr J
“Well done (Opera at Bearwood). We really enjoyed it…..and Juliet was amazing!” Mr and Mrs A
